About SdCdT
The Societe des Chevaliers du Temple (SdCdT) is an initiatory Order committed to continuing and fostering the Knights Templar Tradition of the Western Mysteries. It is dedicated to the exploration and promulgation of such concepts as the Divine Feminine, Grail Lore, Sacred Marriage, Gnosticism, Kabbalah and Chivalry as recently popularized by Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code along with evolving esoteric thought. It is a private esoteric society and is not affiliated with any other organization, whether esoteric, religious or political.
The Society is committed to raising its initiates to true Knighthood within the mysteries of the Knights Templar Tradition. It is a Spiritual Order, arising from the medieval Chivalric Order of the Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ.
We derive our initiatory lineage from the one of the later incarnations of the Knights Templar, the Rose Croix of the Temple and the Grail (closely connected to Rennes le Chateau in France, Berenger Sauniere, Josephin Peladan and Emma Calve). In additon we have had ties to the Strict Templar Observance from Auvergne Province and the Bavarian Illuminati. The Societe is NOT an Elus Kohen or Martinist Lineage, although we share some of our heritage with them.
Our Order is governed by a triumvirate of officers. This triad is composed of the Grand Master, Visitor and Seneschal. These officers are servants of the Order and work for and on behalf of the Order and its Brothers and Sisters. They form the Grand Commandery.
Bodies within the Societe des Chevaliers du Temple include Preceptories and Bailies. A Preceptory has the autonomy to administer its own affairs, select its own members, elect officers and establish Bailies. It is empowered to transmit the first 4 ordinations of the Minor Orders and two of the Major Orders. Ordinations. Knighting of the Major Orders requires permission from the Grand Commandery.
The Preceptor (Master) of a Preceptory must have received the accolade of Knight. As well as a Master, every Preceptory should have (whenever possible) a Turcopolier and Marshal, thus being governed by a triad corresponding to the Grand Commandery.
A Bailey is a working group established by a Preceptory, operating under the authority of that Preceptory and its Master. Members of a Bailey are also members of the sponsoring Preceptory. The Master of a Bailey must have been ordained to the Major Orders. A Bailey is encouraged to attract new members, meet as a group, and work towards becoming a Preceptory.
The Societe des Chevaliers du Temple is a non-commercial spiritual Order. The Grand Commandary does not charge dues or fees for membership. Preceptories or Bailies, may exact modest dues on a local level if deemed appropriate to cover basic operating expenses.
